Church service was disrupted on sunday, at the Living Faith Church also known as Winners Chapel in
Benin, the Edo state capital.
New
Telegraph reports that emissaries of Omo N’Oba Nedo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba
Ewuare II paid the church a visit on Sunday, over the said member, who
reportedly committed suicide by hanging right in the church.
According to reports, it was leanrt that family
and members of the church had allegedly brought down the victim from
where he was dangling and rushed him to a nearby hospital to conceal the
incident and to avert consequences.
But the Benin monarch still got a wind of
it and quickly deployed palace functionaries to the church located on
Upper Erhunwumse street in the ancient town. The palace emissaries had
expected that the church will follow the normal procedure that is always
done when anyone takes his or her life but the church disobeyed the
rule of the land concerning the abominable act.
The palace was angered because the church removed a
traditional sign placed on the building by palace functionaries which
signifies an alleged abominable act was committed by a church worker.
When the palace public relations officer,
Mr. Odemwenmgie Donald, was contacted on phone yesterday, he confirmed
the incident, saying:
“I don’t even know the church where the incident occurred but I know that a pastor committed suicide there.
