Rick Warren Offers Words of Hope to Jordin Sparks

Popular singer Jordin Sparks asked for prayer on Twitter and Pastor Rick Warren responded with words of encouragement and hope.

According to The Blaze, Sparks posted to Twitter, “I’m having such bad anxiety. I can’t sleep. If there’s any prayer warriors out there, can you please send up a prayer for me?”

Warren, who is the pastor of Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California and author of the bestseller “The Purpose Driven Life,” responded to Sparks's desperate plea with words of hope and wisdom.

“Praying for u Jordin!” Warren tweeted. “False Evidence Appearing Real(Fear) is worse than the reality Don’t resist it REFOCUS elsewhere [sic].”

In another tweet, Warren told Sparks, “Focus on how deeply God loves you: ‘Perfect love casts out all fear.’ Focus on God’s loves and move against fear in faith [sic].”

Warren and his wife, Kay, have been involved in discussing what the church can do to address anxiety and depression since their son, Matthew, committed suicide in 2013.
In October, the Warrens will be hosting a conference titled, “The Gathering on Mental Heealth & the Church.”
