The Niger State Government has urged Christians to use the Easter period to pray for peace and development of the state.

A statement by the state’s Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr Jonathan Vatsa, in Minna, on Thursday, also called for support for Governor Abubakar Bello’s administration.
“As you celebrate the Easter, endeavour to draw lessons from the sacrifice of Jesus Christ at the cross and live by his teachings through promoting peace,’’ it said.
The statement called on the people of the state to eschew bitterness and imbibe peaceful co-existence that would enhance government policies and programmes for the people.
It stated that the government would continue to promote religious harmony and tolerance in the state, adding that government was collaborating with security agencies to ensure a hitch-free celebration.
