Christians are conquerors (Pt 2)

Romans 8:36-37 says: “As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us”.

Romans 8:36-37 says: “As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us”

Brethren, the killings, persecution and intimidation of Christians all over the world cannot stop the spread of the gospel to all nations of the world irrespective of race, colour and language. Amidst of all these things we are more than conquerors for I am persuaded beyond all reasonable doubt that our Master who commissioned us into the work is still greater and mightier than all.

Saul sought to slay David, but David outlived him, and sat upon his throne. Scribe and Pharisee, united in opposing the Christ our Saviour, but despite their gang up, He is exalted on high. The mightiest man will be like a stunted thing when he stands in opposition against God, because he will shrink into utter nothingness.

God is always with those He has chosen and employs in the service of His vineyard. When He called Abraham, He established a covenant of blessing with him and told him, “…Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward” (Genesis 15:1). When He chose Moses to bring His chosen people out of the hand of their task masters, He said to him, “When thou goest out to battle against thine enemies, and seest horses, and chariots, and a people more than thou, be not afraid of them: for the LORD thy God is with thee, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt” (Deut. 20:1). In the days of Joshua, God exhorted him to be strong and of good courage. He told him, “Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. (Joshua 1:9). So also was Jeremiah who He told: “Be not afraid of their faces; for I am with thee to deliver thee.” (Jeremiah 1:8).

Beloved, God’s presence should put life into us. When God is with us, it should make us fearless and who is that being that can harm us.

In the Book of Psalms, David said, “In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me. Thy vows are upon me, O God: I will render praises unto thee.” (Psalms 56:11-12).

Truly, this should be the general position of all the born again Christians. Every good believer should stand on that pedestal and not be afraid of death, persecution, accusation or blackmail done against him because of his evangelical prowls and righteous-ness in Christ Jesus. He must have solid faith in the One who has chosen him and should not fear what flesh can do unto him. This is because, when faith is exercised, fear is banished, and holy triumph ensues, so that the soul asks, “What can flesh do unto me?”

Indeed he can do him no injury, because all wicked malice shall be overruled for his good. We should remember that man is but flesh, and flesh is grass. But God is omni-potent, man’s power is limited; howsoever strong he may be, he can do nothing against the Almighty.

No man, no matter how great can destroy the soul which is your real self. Flesh can only wound flesh and as Christians we have been crucified with Christ. Nevertheless we live; yet not we, but Christ lives in us: and the life which we now live in the flesh we live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved us, and gave himself for us.

Why then should we fear to be stripped of that which we have resigned already to Christ? We have already denied ourselves, took up our crosses, and followed our Master, so the coming of the enemy now, is too late. We have no life to lose, because we have given it all already to Christ, nor can man take away that without God’s per-mission. All that we have, are insured and God has undertaken to bear the loss, and to pay us a hundredfold.

Therefore, we shall not fear what man can do unto us. Let that man do his worst, let him frown, threat, plot, persecute, blackmail, scorn, strike, what we are sure is that the Lord is on our side, He has a special care for us, He is a shield unto us, and we will not fear, but hope and see our desire on them that hate us. Yes, we shall see them changed or be ruined.

Hebrews 13:6 says: “So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.” Without any hesitation or doubt, in all times of perplexity, persecution, black-mailing and threatening, in all times when we scarcely know when the supplies for our necessit-ies are to come, we should put our trust in God, and be assured that He will not leave nor forsake us. He is our Rock, Fortress, and Deliverer, our Strength, Shield and High Tower in whom we take refuge.

Beloved, we are conquerors when we have the assurance that the Rock of Ages is on our side, and that He will help us? We are very sure that under whatever trials we may be placed, we need not be under any painful apprehensions, for God will be our defender, Shepherd, Guardian, Protector and our Friend.

In the Bible days when it was difficult and confusing for Joshua to take over the city of Jericho, God sent a warlord in the person of an Angel to take the lead and give Joshua victory.

Joshua 5:13-14 says: “And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries? And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the LORD am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my Lord unto his servant?”

The fact remains that the Almighty is always with us and nothing can separate us from His love. When the Angel identified with Joshua, it took no time and without any struggle Jericho fell into the hand of Joshua.

There is no need bordering to ask what the Lord detailed the Angel to do. The Angel is to lead us to victory. The Captain of the host of the Lord is today still by our sides. So, let us therefore, go with this assurance of victory into the world and evangelise it. Let us preach in season and out of season, let our enemies see the boldness of Christ in us. Let our Christ-like life shine among the people. Let us turn the world upside down. Let us go into the world and win souls for Christ, depopulate the kingdom of Satan and populate the Kingdom of God, for we are conquerors, oh yes, we are more than conquerors.
