Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Most Rev. Alfred Adewale Martins
The Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Most Rev. Alfred Adewale Martins,
has urged Nigerians not to stir a full blown political crisis in the
country, but rather they should support and pray for President Muhammadu
Buhari to return to his seat hale and hearty.
The clergy added
that he hoped the president would return home sooner than expected as
Nigerians too were anxiously waiting to received him.
He urged Nigerians to be calm and believe in God, saying that He would help ward off any storm around the country.
The
Cleric who disclosed this during the priestly ordination of Fr. Ndaka
at Gerad Tanko and Fr. Martins Chuibike, at the community worship
centre, Society of St. Paul Catholic Church Iju, in Lagos State.
Rev. Martins expressed concern over the decaying corrupt tendencies
among public officers, who he said, had looted the nation’s treasury
black.
He said that the disease of corruption must be cured for there to be development in the country.
According
to the Archbishop, the quest of acquiring glamour, fame and power has
led to the decadence in the society today. He also said that incidences
of terrorism, kidnapping, ritual killing, rise in crime due to the
increasing rate of unemployment and economic crunch has made the
environment less secure.
